Jack Russell’s have both a brindle coat and a full coat. The Brindle coats tend to shed more than the regular coat, so they are not the best choice for a home where you have kids or animals.
Jack Russell coat comes in many coat colors. They are either a white-colored brindle coat with black markings or they can be a double black undercoat or even a double white undercoat with red markings. All of these coat colors do shed a lot.
Some characteristics are the hair, eye, nose, and ear color being almost all one color. The color of the markings on the body is usually black, red, brown, or gray. Jack Russell’s also tends to have very little or no hair in the chin area.
Jack Russell coat care is very simple. All you have to do is to brush it on a daily basis and give it enough time to dry out. The type of brush you use will depend on your specific breed and the type of dog. However, brush your Jack Russell dog regularly using a soft bristle brush. Never use a stiff brush on your dog.
When you are brushing your Jack Russell dog, never pull on your dog’s fur. You should always try to keep your hand between your dogs’ legs and the brush in a relaxed motion. If you pull on your dog’s fur, it could cause skin irritation and an accident could happen.
Your Jack Russell’s coat also needs a certain amount of maintenance, so you will need to check it out for fleas and other pests. If you find any of them, treat them as quickly as possible.
To prevent your Jack Russell from shedding excessively, you should also make sure that it is dry when it is finished shedding. Because of their dry coat, their hair tends to fly around, therefore you may have to clean your fur less often, but make sure to use a high quality shampoo which is good for dog grooming.
You can also improve your coat’s health by brushing it on a regular basis. Use a high quality dog shampoo that is gentle enough for your dog and you can also use your dog’s shampoo at night while you are away.
Your Jack Russell should also be bathed approximately once a year, with a mild shampoo. The best time of the year to bathe your dog is in spring or fall, because during these seasons it is cold, making bathing your dog more difficult.
There are plenty of different kinds of brushes you can use for your dog, from wide to narrow. bristle brushes, for example, can be used to groom your dog on a regular basis and help to make your dog feel comfortable, while at the same time helping to remove any tangles on the coat.
Other types of brushes that can be used are those with bristles on both sides, like the kinds you would use on your own dog, such as the brush that is found at the pet store. They are also excellent for cleaning the teeth and face area.
If you want your Jack Russell to look its best, brush it at least twice a month, after you have cleaned and dried your dog’s hair. Do this once every two months.
